Lions are ferocious animals. I like to see lions at the zoo, but I would be terrified too see them in nature without a barrier between me and the lion. Lion populations are decreasing. Lions are native to Africa. Lions live in groups and the female lions do the hunting.
After tigers, lions are the second largest cat in the world and can grow to as much as 500 pounds. Lions are found in savannas, grasslands and woodlands in eastern and southern Africa. In the wild, they can live up to 14 years. (Information from The Nature Conservancy)
